ACEX Estonia Continues to Multimodal Delivery of the World’s Largest Excavators

8/1/2013

ACEX Estonia has successfully implemented a project on international shipment of the batch of excavators manufactured by the American corporation Caterpillar Inc. This time, wheel excavators CAT M318D weighing 20 tons and hydraulic excavators CAT 349D weighing 47 tons were shipped from Holland and Belgium to Central Asia.

Delivery of powerful oversized machinery was arranged as soon as possible. “In the process of transportation, special attention was paid to development of schemes and fastening of hydraulic excavator CAT 349D, as this type of expensive machinery has very impressive specifications – 11.5 m long, 3.4 m wide and 3.2 m high”, said the head of ACEX Estonia, Eduard Kyasnapuu.

The difficulties encountered in the course of transportation could be avoided. According to Eduard Kyasnapuu, even though the Estonian sea port of Paldiski is known among the Baltic ports by its quality of cargo securing, in the process of transportation by rail in the CIS, machinery shifts on the platforms and, as a result, transportation stops. “We also have faced this problem, but successfully coped with all the tasks and delivered oversized machinery in accordance with agreed terms” – confirms the head of Estonian branch of ACEX.
